Resource Services Information & Brochures
How are Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Services provided?
GALS LA uses a collaborative model where RSP services are delivered within the general education class. The General Education Teacher and RSP Teacher co-plan and co-teach together. Resource services are provided through co-teaching, study skills classes, and push-in teaching models. At times, this may also include Paraprofessional support in various classes throughout the day and/or individual support outside the classroom (before school/after school). This means that we do not focus on pulling students out of classes for resource services but rather provide services in the classroom in an inclusive setting. Ancillary services vary depending on the unique and individual needs of each student as determined by their IEP team.
IEP Parent Resources:
Understood.org is an organization that since 2014 has served millions of families of kids who learn and think differently. Understood has an informative YouTube channel with playlists on various topics related to individuals with learning and thinking differences. The IEP & 504 Plans playlist is a great playlist for families.

Section 504 Services
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. In the school setting, this means that students with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities may qualify for accommodations and supports through a 504 Plan.
These accommodations are designed to provide equal access to education and help students fully participate in school programs and activities.
504 Coordinator Contact Information
